Safe Siting: Planning ahead  -  1 day course

Safe Siting: Planning Ahead is a one day course which has been developed by and for people involved in siting operations. This course aims to raise awareness of the safety issues that surround this potentially hazardous operation; to ensure that all those involved can contribute to risk assessments and planning, and that the siting team understands the need to keep records to protect themselves and the business.

Who is it for?

Whether experienced or new to the industry, this course is relevant to all those involved in the moving and siting of single unit caravans. The content of this course meets a number of elements with the Operational Services Level 2 NVQ and is therefore ideal for any candidates who wish to enrol on this vocational qualification.

What is covered during the course?

  • Health & Safety – how it affects you, the responsibility of the employer/employee and how to comply with legislation
  • An introduction to Manual Handling and PUWER
  • Hazards & Risks - how to identify hazards and risks that could occur during the moving & siting operation
  • Risk assessment and planning
  • The reasons behind the selection of materials, tools, equipment & vehicles, and working in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions and the Guidelines of Good Practice
  • Standard Banksmans signals
  • Keeping records - understand the need to keep records to protect yourself and the business, and how these should be documented in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • First Aid – what to do in an emergency and RIDDOR reporting

Where and when do I attend the course?

All courses will be held on approved Caravan Parks throughout the United Kingdom and learners will be allocated to a course in their local area.
