Electrical Training for Service Engineers
2 Day Course
Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, all employers have a duty to ensure that employees are competent to carry out any electrical duties expected of them. To protect caravan businesses, the National Caravan Council has defined what constitutes electrical competence in the servicing of touring caravans and motorhomes. This assessed course will show that employers have proof of the competence of their workshop staff.
This course is designed to develop and test the competence of touring caravan and motorhome service engineers. It ensures that they are safe when carrying out their day to day duties, that all legal requirements are met, and that they can sign off a range of specified electrical work as required within their usual duties.
What the course will give you
Candidates will have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of, and practical ability for:
- Knowledge of the relevant safety legisation
- Create and maintain a safe system of work
- Know electrical terms and relationships
- Understand protection against electric shock and burns
- Determine circuit protection
- Define earthing and bonding
- Safe use of hand tools
- Carry out inspection and test of a caravan or motorhome
- Documentation
- Successful assessment will give a Certificate of Competence
This course can be used as evidence of prior learning, which will count towards the electrical module of the forthcoming NVQ Level 2 in Caravan Servicing (in development).
This course is not suitable for complete beginners. All delegates should have some prior basic electrical training or supervised experience before applying for the couse.
This course will run on two consecutive days. Each course will take a maximum of 10 people. The cost includes training, assessment, course materials, certification, and a light buffet lunch on all days. Accommodation if required is not included. All other terms and conditions apply.

- Member of the BH&HPA/NCC: £300+VAT
- Non member: £400+VAT
- Prices will increase by £20 from 1st April 2009
