SkillsActive is the SSC for sport and active leisure. The caravan industry is one of its five sectors, the others being Sport and Recreation, Fitness, Playwork and the Outdoors.

At the moment, CITO is working with them specifically on the following projects:
- NVQ level 3 This supervisory qualification in Leisure Management should be available in the autumn. As well as providing an excellent step onwards from Operational Services (Caravan Parks) it will be a flexible and useful qualification for supervisors in all aspects of park work.
- Careers It is essential that good quality applicants are made aware of the opportunities in the caravan industry. Larger park businesses have a great deal to offer, although most school leavers remain unaware of the industry’s potential as an employer. SkillsActive has the resources to develop quality material to provide better information to potential employees. Click here to see a recent example of a careers case study .
- The Sector Skills Agreement Each Sector Skills Council must, as part of its first three years of operation, agree a contract with government which lays out the skills needs of its sector, and how they are to be addressed. This Agreement is the foundation stone of future work and government funding. The caravan parks sector in particular has been well represented in the consultation process, with over 700 park businesses returning an in-depth questionnaire, followed by three focus groups to give real-park depth to the statistics.
