Park Management Training & Qualifications
The general management of a park requires the same principles of good management that should be found in any business. The aim of CITO is not to replicate any training that can be found elsewhere, and therefore we do not provide general management training. However there are a number of key areas specific to the caravan industry and therefore we have tailored courses to meet the needs of those managing and running a caravan holiday or residential park.
The National Certificate in Park Management
Whether you are an ‘old hand’ or just starting out as an owner or manager of a park, The National Certificate in Park Management brings to you the most significant and important aspects of legislation that affect park operation that you should be aware of in the management of a park. The National Certificate is considered to be a key qualification for park managers to hold, with many large groups leading the way by making it a mandatory requirement in their staff’s development. The self study program covers the key principles of:
- Planning Site License
- Health & Safety
- Consumer Law
- Employment Law
- Environment Responsibilities
- Codes of Practice
The National Certificate can be studied whether you are currently working on a park or have yet to join the industry. This is a home self study program, with learning support available on-line at the CITO community forum. Candidates complete the course by attending a short multi-choice exam.
NVQ Level 3: Leisure Management
This qualification is aimed at anyone on the park who has a supervisory role – on a large park they could work in sales, administration, retail, entertainment, maintenance or any other specialism. On a smaller park they could be a trainee or junior manager. This is a park based training program with all instruction and assessment carried out on your park (and is therefore not suitable for anyone who is not currently working on a park).
E-learning - Foundation Degree in Business & Management
This online course with park specific case studies is aimed at anyone looking for an introduction to an undergraduate degree course or simply to gain a higher level and challenging academic qualification. The e-learning Foundation Degree is a joint venture between Bournemouth University and Leeds Metropolitan University and is ideal if you are looking for a course that offers a wide range of business subjects and the flexibility to work where and when you like. Other Training
There are a number of maintenance and technical operations carried out on a park (such as siting/de-siting operations) which as a manager you may either be directly involved in or will at least be responsible for members of staff who are. As a manager you should also be aware of the technical training CITO provide such as the BTEC Safe Siting Award, ISRM Pool Plant Operators Certificate and Health & Safety in the Workplace which can be found in the Maintenance & Technical Training advice section.
